So since our Lit review our group has changed from 4 to 3 and with that has also come a change in our research ‘direction’. After talks with Tony, Steph Mulder (our team manager), Ben Cooper (our blog editor) and I (team organiser and secretary) have decided to focus our research on Indigenous Communities and how the recent advances in Technology, specifically, the sharing of information and new ways of communication, can benifit them in the way of sustainability and keeping their culture and heritage alive.  I believe something truly great could  come out of this. In terms of sustainability and the Aboriginal people of Australia i think it is something that we as young people should really be more interested/aware of. Since Kevin Rudds long awaited ’sorry’ speach the way of life for our indigenous people has really come to the forefront of the media and it is only now that i am aware of just how bad things have gotten. It makes me glad that due to the new-found awareness of their current situation, policies are being put in place to stop things like drug/alcohol abuse, child sex abuse and low literacy levels in these communities.  In terms of our research project; all the previous research we have conducted up to this point on the subject of information sharing and the new ways of communication via online social networking will form the basis of our new direction. But how can we use this technology to benefit the indigenous communities? is there a way of sharing their cultural heritage, not only between each other, but between our non-indigenous citizens also? how can we bring their issues and problems to the forefront so each and every one of us is aware? We have decided that for inspiration we will attend the Indigenous Art Exhibition at the Ian Potter Gallery and we are hoping some ideas for our next poster will come out of it…
